When exciting the coil, the field attracts armature beyond the sprig force, then it makes the gap between inner-disc and outer-disc and brake becomes free. When to interrupt the coil exciting, the field releases armature by spring force, and the brake is actuated. Autmatic braking is made when the power supply is shut off.
